Jonathan Gassman, CPA/PFS, CFP®, CAP®

Founder of The Gassman Financial Group

Jonathan Gassman, CPA/PFS, CFP®, CAP®, is the CEO and founder of The Gassman Financial Group, a New York City-based public accounting firm, and is co-founder of G&G Planning Concepts Inc., a financial planning firm, which, through the years, has evolved to be one of the leading wealth management firms in New York City.  G&G Planning Concepts, Inc. is an outgrowth of the original firm founded in 1926. The third-generation, family-owned firm passed from Grandfather, Alexander Gassman to Father, Mel Gassman to Grandson, Jonathan Gassman in a succession that embodies the way the firm  lives up to its reputation as a  business that knows how to take care of its clients.  In the early 1990’s, Jonathan Gassman expanded the firm to encompass financial planning. Jonathan is also the co-founder and CEO of The Business Owners Resource Group, a team of highly skilled financial planners, attorneys, accountants, and bankers.
 
A professional who acts as a chief financial advisor to many highly respected professionals, Jonathan has taken his knowledge and experience as a certified financial planner and a certified public accountant to consistently provide the highest level of service to his clients. Jonathan’s long-term involvement with charitable planned giving is what led him to pursue the rigorous CAP® credential (Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®).  The CAP® program provides financial professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives, while also helping them meet their estate planning and wealth management goals. Only 350 individuals have been awarded the prestigious CAP® designation since its inception in 2003. 
 
The core financial planning services of G & G Planning Concepts Inc. include estate and tax planning, insurance, investment planning, retirement planning, and employee benefit planning. The firm offers many other specialized services that range from estate succession planning for business owners, and stock option planning, the utilization of philanthropic planning to create more wealth and cash flow, and delivering comprehensive investment solutions.

Jonathan received his education at the Long Island University/CW Post Center for undergraduate and graduate school, where he earned B.S. and MST degrees. Jonathan has earned his CFP® designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. He earned the (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He received additional professional training through the Rainmaker Academy, the Strategic Coach Program, the Values Based Planning Academy, and the Renaissance Charitable Giving Foundation. Jonathan has been a member of The American Institute of CPA's, The Financial Planning Association, New York State Society of CPA's, National Committee on Planned Giving, Planned Giving Group of Greater New York, and the Estate Planning Council of NY. He is a frequent participant in both the AICPA and FPA conferences.



Michael H. Fliegelman, CLU®, ChFC®, RFC®, AEP®

Insurance and Financial Consultant

Michael Fliegelman, CLU®, ChFC®, RFC®, AEP®, is an independent insurance and financial consultant with offices in Long Island and Manhattan. Michael is a Registered Representative offering securities through American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc. (APFS), and offers Investment Advisory services through G&G Planning Concepts, Inc., which is not affiliated with APFS. He is also the founder of Strategic Wealth Advisors Network, LLC (SWAN).  Michael is a leading authority on estate and business succession planning and has extensive experience in analyzing life, disability and long-term care insurance policies. He has a special talent for helping clients approach their financial planning in a holistic and comprehensive manner and has been a featured commentator on Fox News and in Newsday.
 
An advisor to advisors, Michael began his career in financial services in 1984 and has gone on to train and mentor many successful financial advisors. Prior to establishing his own firm, Michael was a General Agent with Guardian Life Insurance where he built one of the leading agencies in the North East from scratch. Michael also served as a Sales Manager and Special Agent for Prudential Insurance where he helped young agents establish their careers. Michael is active in several local and national charities, including the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Long Island Fight for Charity, where he raised over $45,000 for special needs children.

Michael earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at New Paltz and maintains the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations awarded by The American College. He is active in the Life underwriting Training Council (LUTC), The American Society of Financial Services Professionals, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and won the prestigious Master Agency Award for his work with Guardian Life Insurance Company.


John Male, CFP®

Director of Financial Planning

John Male, CFP®, is the Director of Financial Planning at G&G Planning Concepts, Inc. in New York City. John provides financial planning and investment advisory services to individuals and businesses. He has an extensive background in comprehensive financial planning, risk management, financial reporting, and benefits consulting, which all are becoming increasingly important in the fast changing world of financial planning. He has a special talent for helping his clients to understand the process of savings and provides them with access to the right information and financial instruments that will help them to achieve their financial goals. He strongly advises his clients to develop a savings program that is much more diversified and comprehensive than placing all of one’s assets solely into a house and a 401k plan. According to John, “I give my clients the critical information to structure and implement financial plans that remain solid no matter what the market is doing.” John is also a Registered Representative offering securities through American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc. (APFS) and offers Investment Advisory services through G&G Planning Concepts, Inc., which is not affiliated with APFS.
 
Prior to his post at G&G Planning Concepts, John worked as an independent financial planner and benefits consultant, advising clients and business owners on risk management issues, employer benefits, and financial and estate planning. John has also worked in corporate finance and financial reporting for a Fortune 500 company. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Bernard Baruch College, City University of New York, and a Master’s Degree in Finance from Golden Gate University in California. He is a Certified Financial Planner®, a registered investment advisor, and maintains the series 7 and 65 securities licenses.
 
John’s interest in financial planning first grew out of a highly personal experience that happened when he was young and involved losing members of his family. This experience shaped the way he viewed his role as a financial advisor and how he could help his clients to plan for the future, no matter what circumstances in life unexpectedly occur. John works directly with the firm’s principal and lead planner, Jonathan Gassman, to ensure that each client receives the customized financial planning advice and the personalized service that has long been the tradition of this third-generation, family-owned firm. A member of the Manhattan chapter of the Financial Planning Association, John is working toward obtaining the Chartered Financial Consultant® designation at the American College. He is an avid marathon runner and aspiring tri-athlete.



Nydia Lugo

Chief of Operations

A recent addition to the firm, Nydia brings with her a wealth of experience as a senior level administrator and bookkeeper for several top public accounting and executive search firms. She is responsible for supporting the firm’s leadership and professional staff, and managing the day-to-day operations of the office. She completed coursework in liberal arts with a concentration in business administration at Hostos Community College, and studied bookkeeping through New York University’s Professional Studies program.

Nydia joins us from Perelson Weiner, LLP where she served as an administrative assistant to three of the firm’s senior tax partners. She has also worked at Major, Lindsey & Africa, an executive search firm serving the legal field, and Hunt Howe Partners, LLC, an executive search firm catering to Fortune 100 firms. In these roles, Nydia was responsible for enhancing various processes that would improve workplace efficiency and make it possible to more effectively serve clients. She sees client satisfaction as “the only key operating metric that matters” and brings to the job a keen eye for overall efficiency and workplace aesthetics.

Fluent in Spanish, Nydia enjoys travel, fashion, and spending time with friends and family.

Deidre Koppelman

Deidre Koppelman is the founder and CEO of PEAR™ Core Solutions, Inc., an outsourced human resources management and business consulting firm that provides core competencies in leadership training and coaching, behavioral analytics for individuals and in the workplace, talent acquisition services, and all levels of Human Resource support in the areas of legal compliance and organizational development pertaining to policies, procedures, process and people.

Established in 2003, PEAR™ has had the opportunity to work with teams in many organizations across a variety of industries. With assistance from PEAR™, our clients are able to strategically understand their unique business culture. With this knowledge of specific and unique team dynamics, as well as the implementation of proper processes, documentation, and communication, our clients are in perpetual growth mode.

Prior to starting PEAR™, Deidre worked for and with organizations including; Time Warner, NBC, GE Capital, and Doubleday.

Deidre is currently a member of Vistage International; a group dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and enhancing the lives of Chief Executives. Deidre is also a member of Gotham and is the Co-chair of the Mentor Partnership Program as well as the Co-Chair for Gotham Suffolk.

Community service involvement is very important to Deidre and includes significant work for; the Industry and Commerce Council for the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System in the development and promotion of the Katz Women’s Hospital, the Education & Assistance Corporation, the Kidney and Urology Foundation where she was honored as Humanitarian of the Year, the Polycystic Kidney Foundation.
